LinkedIn kicked off the year with an article about the skills that will be most needed by companies in 2019 and we thought that we would join the conversation and ask our Mentors to contribute their thoughts and advice!

Connect Mentors and our Mentor community have addressed the highest rated skills and we’ve asked the best industry-specific Mentors to address why these skills will be important and valuable to employers and industries alike. Having a wide variety of professionals, roles and expertise within our Mentor community enabled us to hand-pick the most appropriate Mentor to give their insight into each area.

The areas we are going to address in the series include:

  • Internal ‘business-as-usual’ skills
  • Soft skills
  • Design & creative skills
  • Communication skills
  • Development and back-end skills

Some examples of what the Mentors were asked to consider are:

  • How does ‘the skill’ compare in your industry to other industries?
  • What are the challenges / opportunities faced?
  • How does ‘the skill’, no matter how you define it, aid a business to think strategically and analyse their position within the market in comparison to their competitors?
  • How do companies need to utilise ‘the skill’ to speak to all their stakeholders (external, internal, partners etc)?
  • How has ‘the skill’ changed over the years and what does it mean in 2019?

We were blown away by the inspired ideas shared by our thought-leaders and can’t wait to share this series with our extended community.

By ‘2025 Millennials will make up 75% of the workforce’ according to LinkedIn’s research, and with this in mind, only question remains:

How are you going to keep a competitive edge and get ahead of your peers?

…By getting a Mentor and learning from the best, of course!

We hope you enjoy this upcoming blog series. Be sure to keep checking on our social media channels for posts announcing the next article and skill category of focus.

The first one in the series, coming out soon, will consider how vital internal skills are to keep an organisation running at ‘business as usual’ level.
